This weekend we checked out Huckleberry Cafe on Wilshire. This cafe is owned by the same restaurant group as Rustic Canyon and Sweet Rose Creamery. We can happily say, they’ve truly outdone themselves. We walked in and stood in line, adjacent to the kale and beet salads, salted caramel bars, blueberry muffins and maple-bacon biscuits. After looking over the menu we decided on the Quinoa dish with butternut squash, kale and two eggs any style (we opted for egg whites) and a cappuccino complete with a leaf design by the talented Huckleberry barista. The atmosphere was lively, we struck up great conversation with other patrons and staff. The whole scene reminded us of a NY or SF establishment. After ordering and receiving our number we found a delightful table, next to the large windows bordering the Wilshire sidewalk. We waited a few minutes, grabbed some water and tasted the strong, yet delicious espresso in our cappuccinos. When the food arrived it was a treat for the eyes and the buds, taste buds that is. This cuisine is wholesome and a great example of REAL food, without all the additives.
We highly recommend grabbing a delicious brunch at Huckleberry with a fun group of friends next weekend! Our one regret, we didn’t try the salted caramel bar (if it’s anything like the salted caramel ice cream at Sweet Rose, you’re in for a treat)!
