We had an amazing Launch Party this past Friday at HQ! The event was catered by Lemonade, Manas, and Crumbs Cupcakes. In addition, 3 Twenty Wine Bar generously donated a case of wine to our event! The crowd pleasers we’re the vegetable samosas from Manas, the Truffle Mac n’ Cheese from Lemonade, and the S’more cupcakes from Crumbs! The cupcakes we’re so enticing that the Lemonade caterer couldn’t help but mention the adorable sweets several times. By the third mention, we took the hint, and offered her a mini cupcake. She was delighted to say the least.
It would not be a party without a last minute trip to buy the dreaded “forgotten items”. For anyone who has hosted a party, you know what we mean. We forgot cups…seemingly obvious, yet so elusive. After returning to HQ from our Whole Foods speed shopping excursion (where we purchased gorgeous white roses and eco-friendly, recycled, reusable, biodegradable, cups) we scurried around, rearranged the office and sent out last minute tweets.
The party began at 5:30, but naturally the guests started to arrive closer to 6:30, it is LA after all! The party quickly turned into a jovial, startup networking event. Guests describing their new ventures to one another, offering tips of the trade, and social media advice.
I made my rounds with my Nikon, and a flip camera, interviewing our awesome and supportive guests. We had an abundance of LMU Alumni attend the event; presumably in support of Kumar (formally an LMU graduate student). We also had attendees from Jib Jab (I received the coolest business card known to man- pictured below- from the Jib Jab employee) and HipSwap.
The night culminated in the Launch of our website, a word from founder Kumar, and the announcement of the Kindle Fire Giveaway winner, Marisa!
My personal highlight of the night was when the Rush49 landing page went live. We’ve been logging some crazy hours, and it felt amazing to see the fruits of our labor. What makes working in a startup environment invigorating, is the opportunity to build something. I know that Rush49 is not the Colosseum, and it likely won’t create a revolution or something equally cool, but together we built a brand from the ground up. And that, no matter how seemingly insignificant, a feat.
I think I speak for the team when I say, we had an awesome time hosting! A huge thank you goes out to all who attended! We greatly appreciate your support! The event could not have been a success without your smiling faces. We look forward to seeing you soon!
